Robbie Dale Pate, 40, of Anniston, was arrested and charged at the Anniston Police Department Friday evening. Lt. Fred Forsythe said Pate was at the Police Department on Gurnee Avenue as part of their investigation.
Blair’s body was discovered Sunday at a residence on the 800 block of Sparks Street in Anniston. Forsythe said investigators believe Blair was killed on Dec. 21. The body’s state of decomposition made it difficult for investigators to rule a cause of death until after an autopsy was performed.
“As always we treat these things with suspicion and we treat them seriously,” Forsythe said.
According to Forsythe, the autopsy report took several days to get back because of the holidays. Police said Blair suffered trauma to the head and his death was ruled as a homicide.
Forsythe said Pate and Blair were acquaintances.
The lieutenant said no other arrests are expected to be made in connection with the murder.
Pate was being held at the Anniston City Jail as of Friday night. Bond is set at $30,000 and a court date is scheduled for Feb. 11.
