Strong winds are headed for eastern Alabama, according to the National Weather Service office in Birmingham.

The weather service canceled a tornado watch for the region after a line of storms passed through earlier this morning.

An advisory issued by the weather service said winds of 15 to 25 mph would follow in the wake of a cold front that produced the storms, with gusts of between 35 and 40 mph. The winds could affect much of the state, including eastern counties, according to the weather service.

The advisory said that such winds could make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. Drivers should use extra caution, the advisory said.
