Anniston Army Depot donated 150 cell phones and 40 Blackberries to Second Chance on Dec. 13. The phones will enable victims of domestic violence being helped by Second Chance to call 911 in an emergency.

Each phone has a battery and charger with it and will be registered to Second Chance and known to local dispatchers as a devise used by domestic violence victims.

For the Depot, donating the phones is a form of recycling. The phones are used handsets turned in by employees following a change in wireless providers or at the time of retirement or departure from the installation.
