PIEDMONT — One man is dead after a two-vehicle wreck Saturday on Alabama 21 about three miles north of Jacksonville.

Phillip Brian Morgan, 38, of Piedmont was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, said Calhoun County Coroner Pat Brown.

The wreck happened approximately 2:45 p.m., according to a report by Alabama State Troopers, and involved a 2010 Kawasaki motorcycle, driven by Morgan, and a 2001 Dodge pickup being driven by 22-year-old John Daniel Hammett.

Hammett was taken to Regional Medical Center for treatment, according to the report, but a hospital spokesperson said Hammett had been released by Saturday evening.

The accident is being investigated, the report said, but no further details were available Saturday evening.

Alabama State Troopers, Jacksonville Police, members of the Piedmont Rescue Squad and the Knightens Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department all responded to the accident.
