Cheaha Regional Head Start received 10 Alabama Head Start Association awards in October for the 2011-2012 program year. The winners from Cheaha Regional Head Start-Early Head Start program included: Dora I. Jones, HS-EHS program director, Leadership award; Meredith Howle, special needs coordinator, Administrator of the Year award; Sarah Johnson, program design and management manager, support Staff (Technology) award; Natalie Mosley, HS parent at Norwood HS-EHS Center, Against All Odds award; Terrance Allen, HS parent at Norwood HS-EHS Center, Father of the Year award; TaShayla Turner, attended HS entering an Alabama state college, Head Start Graduate scholarship; Velesity Bonds, HS parent at Lincoln Head Start Center, Head Start Parent scholarship; Avery Embry, executive board member, submitted by CRHS, McCain Memorial award; Gadsden State Community College (Ayers Campus) submitted by CRHS, Corporate award and Sarrell Regional Dental Clinic, submitted by CRHS, Oral Health award.

The Cheaha Regional Head Start (CRHS) program has provided 29 years of high quality services for Head Start children and families, and 11 years of exceptional service for children ages birth to three and expectant families, resulting in 11 years of providing a Birth-to-Five program. CRHS serves 898 children and families in its six-county funded area for Head Start children ages birth-to-five and their families (Talladega, Randolph, Coosa, Clay, Calhoun and Cleburne counties). All centers are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
