I’ve read numerous articles about an “entitlement society” and they all deal exclusively with “entitlements” to the individual from the state.

The issue is not one-sided, however, and the state has certain “entitlements” from individuals who claim “entitlements” from the state, a quid pro quo arrangement.

In my opinion, basic entitlements of the state include: individuals should not have children they cannot support, barring accidents beyond their control, and individuals should not borrow money they cannot repay, barring accidents beyond their control.

If you believe your taxes are being wasted, you can add your own entitlement.
