Anniston investigators are searching for two men who they say impersonated police officers Wednesday night.

The men allegedly knocked on the door of a residence on the 400 block of East B Street. The suspects told homeowners they were officers investigating a robbery in the area, Sgt. Josh Doggrell said.

A police report did not state whether the homeowners allowed the men to enter the home. After the suspects left, the homeowners called Anniston police and gave a description of the men and their vehicle. Police did not release the descriptions.

The incident is currently under investigation. The suspects, if caught, are likely to face felony charges for impersonating a peace officer, Doggrell said.
