I consider myself as a reader of history, and from this reading of many books I’ve come to believe that real U.S. history in our schools has been glazed over. Our nation is so close to being an empire in the 21st Century — one can safely say yes, we are an empire.
Sooner or later, all empires fall. And many times they fall from causes within the empire.
Even though the people voted for another term for President Obama, it does not mean there will be smooth sailing in our government; after all, look at the House of Representatives. We still have what we had before the election. The party of no is still in power.
The speaker of the House has said we have to put the people back to work. What does he mean by this since he also said no taxes increases for the rich. Is he thinking of jobs for those who are cut from Social Security and Medicare? Even when Social Security was voted for in the 1930s, there were many who called it socialism and feared it would ruin America.
The first thing on the list for cuts is Social Security and Medicare. Not one word about all our aid overseas and the wars to expand our empire.
I’ve got news for those who cut Social Security, Medicare and Tri-Care. I’ve got plans of my own to cut stuff that I don’t need, like newspapers, books, magazines, cable TV, some food stuff, gas and any number of other things, like gifts to charity. I’ve been poor before. I guess I can be poor once again. I came in with the Depression in 1931, so I can go out in the next one in 2013 or 2014.
