Authorities had a warrant for Renardo Dion Aaron’s arrest after he was videotaped selling cocaine to an undercover deputy in August. He is charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance.
Aaron, 30, was arrested at a home on Bacon Avenue, Chief Deputy Matthew Wade said. The suspect’s wife, Sharesa Aaron, 38, and her daughter, Kedricka Moore, 20, were charged with hindering prosecution after allegedly assuring officers that Aaron was not on the premises, Wade said. Police brought a dog into the home to locate Aaron and discovered he was hiding in the attic. Both women have since been released on bond, the chief deputy said.
Aaron was allegedly involved in a shooting that occurred in January 2011 near the intersection of Alabama 202 and Wilmer Avenue, Anniston police Sgt. Josh Doggrell said. The victim was shot twice and immediately taken for treatment at Regional Medical Center.
Aaron was charged later that month with attempted murder. A grand jury indicted him on the charge in May 2011. Since his arrest on the attempted murder charge, Aaron had his bond revoked twice, most recently in August when the warrant was obtained for the controlled substance charge.
Attempts Wednesday to reach the prosecutor in the attempted murder case were unsuccessful.
Aaron on Wednesday was being held at the Calhoun County Jail until a court date and bond can be set.
