Police are investigating an alleged sexual assault of a Jacksonville State University student that took place at an off-campus apartment over the weekend.

An 18-year-old female student told police an unknown man forced her to perform oral sex on him sometime late Saturday night or in the early hours of Sunday morning while at a party at an off-campus apartment complex on Alabama 204, said Jacksonville police Chief Tommy Thompson.

The victim told police she was at the party with several people she did not know or recognize, when the lights were turned out and a man started to kiss her, Thompson said. The woman said she told the man to stop, but he continued, and eventually forced her into the sex act.

The victim said she refused the man’s advances verbally and physically, but said she felt helpless in the situation, Thompson said.

No arrests have been made. Police are working with university officials to investigate the incident, Thompson said.
