The ladies of the Junior League of Anniston-Calhoun are excited to announce the newest Provisional Class to their organization. Jami Ricketts, Virginia Hayes, Christie Welch, Jennifer Maddox, Nichole Miller, Teresa Ross-Forrester, Tycoma Miller, Lori Ellis, Britney Cain, Mary Martha Hall, Tanya Sexton and Carrie Clonts are hard at work on their provisional project in hopes of lending a helping hand to women in need in the community.

So far, fundraising — which included a wine tasting sponsored by Tyson’s Fine Wines and Things in September and a donation day sponsored by Books-A-Million in October — has been the major task. Both events successfully raised funds that will go toward providing basic living items like mattresses, bedding and toiletries to women without a permanent living situation.

The League is very proud of what these ladies have accomplished so far and look forward to celebrating the completion of their project and more. If you would like to help in their efforts, please visit the organization’s website at

In addition, the Junior League of Anniston-Calhoun is looking for more women who believe in their vision of “strong women growing stronger communities” and will hold a spring provisional class with informational meetings in November and December. Formal meetings will begin January 2013. If you or someone you know is interested in joining the League, please go to the website for more information.

Finally, if you are looking for a night of fun that will benefit a great cause, the League is sponsoring a “Bunco for a Cause” tournament on Thursday, Nov. 8, at Garfrerick’s Café. The game will begin promptly at 6 p.m. The cost per entrant is $10 and the donation of a gently used item of professional clothing. Proceeds from “Bunco for a Cause” will benefit local women’s and children’s charities in the community. Please join the ladies of Junior League for a night of fun, friendship and giving ... and bring a friend or two!
