Those who recognize the egregious nature of such measures (with more than 300 anti-environmental votes in the House since January 2011) find it impossible to understand why there is such widespread support for them in the U.S. House. H.R. 3409 is clearly a dangerous assault on the Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act, the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act, and the health of the public. We don’t want a return to the 1960s when, for example, Cleveland’s Cuyahoga River caught fire due to pollution.
It is past time for the members of Congress to work together to create jobs and avoid attempts to increase environmental pollution and to degrade public health.
