I have known Millie for more than 30 years in a variety of contexts, and she brings the passion, commitment and experience Anniston needs.

First, I have known Millie as a bright, dedicated and thoughtful mother and friend. Millie relates firsthand to the busy schedules and financial challenges facing many of us today; she raised a family while working full time as a teacher. She understands the concerns of parents with children and their desire to provide them with every opportunity to succeed in life. She possesses all the personal qualities that our community values.

Second, I have known Millie as an educator. Millie taught for 22 years and was named the DoDEA Teacher of the Year in 2001. She values education and realizes the importance of strong school systems. Firmly believing that change begins with education, she identifies opportunities to educate children as well as adults on health, civic and cultural issues facing the area.

Finally, I have known Millie as a community leader. Millie has served our area in numerous capacities over the last 30 years. She currently serves on the Anniston Planning Commission and is dedicated to returning Anniston to the model city it once was. She is familiar with the issues facing the city as a whole, and she is committed to working with others and finding solutions.

Millie’s vast experience, her understanding of the economic issues we face and her demonstrated abilities to address the concerns of all citizens make her the most qualified person to lead Anniston during these challenging times. The road ahead is daunting, but the determination and passion that Millie brings to every task will serve this city well.
