A 3-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy remained at Children’s Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham after suffering injuries in an accident on Quintard Avenue, said Anniston police officer Roy Bennett. A 6-year-old girl also involved in the accident was treated at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital and released this weekend, Bennett said.
All three children were traveling in a Ford Explorer headed west on 17th Street which collided with a Nissan Maxima heading south on Quintard Avenue. Bennett said police are still investigating the cause of the accident, and have not released the names of either driver involved.
Bennett said the children were related and traveling with two adult relatives in the car. Police were unavailable to explain the families’ exact relationships Wednesday afternoon.
Bennett said the 4-year-old boy was in critical but stable condition and was showing signs of gradual improvement since the accident. Bennett said he could not release information about any of the children’s injuries.
