With Anniston’s runoff election just a week away, the candidates for Ward 2 and Ward 4 City Council seats will take questions in an election forum on Thursday at the Carver Community Center.

The forum, sponsored by The Anniston Star, Women Empowered and the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce, will kick off at 6 p.m.

Ward 3 Councilman-elect Seyram Selase will start the forum with his views about where Anniston is headed.

Then, the four candidates — Sheffton Goodson and David Reddick, candidates vying for the Ward 2 council seat, and Marcus Dunn and Millie Harris, running for Ward 4 — will take questions from the audience.

Bob Davis, associate publisher of The Star, will host the forum. Philip Tutor, commentary editor, will serve as moderator.

“We thought it was a good time, now that these fields have been narrowed, to have the candidates speak to the voters one more time,” Davis said.

It’s been six weeks since the election. The forum will give voters whose favored candidates didn’t advance to the runoff an opportunity to hear what the current candidates have to say, he added.

The forum is scheduled to end at 7:30 p.m.
