Before the students attend an opera, ballet or symphony, she teaches them the story and the music. As you might guess, this is not easy with high school kids since most have never been exposed to anything like these visual and auditory productions.
Because of Millie’s teaching skills, passion and ability to motivate, the students are enthused about the performances they attend. Who knows what these experiences will spark in their lives?
Millie says she had no background in many of these classical genres, but once she accepted the job, she diligently worked to learn everything about each of the programs. This shows her drive to acquire knowledge and prepare herself ahead of time. Her approach to being a city council member will always be to learn first and then act on that knowledge.
Jerry and I feel Millie Harris will be an excellent, well-prepared Anniston City Council member for Ward 4.
