Millie is an intelligent, energetic person who keeps an open mind about any issue until she has researched it carefully and understands its implications. She has demonstrated that she is goal oriented and believes in developing a plan and using it as a guide to achieve the desired outcomes. Her selection as Department of Defense Schools Teacher of the Year in 2001 demonstrates her skill in her profession. Now that she has retired, she is willing to bring her abundant talents to bear in order to help move Anniston forward.
We think a major opportunity for our city is ecotourism. The recreational treasures in our part of northeast Alabama need to be expanded in order to bring more people into our area, especially our downtown districts. Millie wants to expand the Chief Ladiga Trail through Anniston and supports the completion of the Coldwater Mountain bike trails. These trail developments and expansions will introduce many new people to Anniston and can also serve as a needed boost to the revitalization of certain parts of the downtown area. Millie is not only a strong advocate for the Ladiga expansion but she is a user of the trail herself and knows first-hand what its potential holds for ecotourism and therefore for the economy of our city.
We strongly recommend Millie Harris to you and respectfully ask that you vote for her for the City Council position in Ward 4 on Oct. 9.
