She served as school improvement chair for several years for one of the top school systems in the country, the Department of Defense Education Activity School. If elected to the Anniston City Council for Ward 4, the extensive leadership training in strategic planning she received in that role can assist her in moving Anniston forward.
Millie will do her homework in engaging stakeholders, defining specific problems, researching solutions, setting long-term expectations and translating these into specific and attainable goals, objectives and actions. Most important, she will help ensure that this plan is revisited regularly, holding herself and others accountable.
Although the City Council does not set school board policy, her extensive educational background will be an asset in making sound decisions in supporting Anniston City Schools, rather than spending tax money frivolously. She supports expansion of the career-technical programs so that all students graduate with solid, high-demand job skills.
Please lend your support to Anniston by voting for Millie Harris for City Council Ward 4 on Oct. 9. Our children and residents deserve a “new horizon.”
