I have known Millie Harris and her family for more than 30 years. Millie is a nationally acclaimed teacher but she has consistently focused her efforts on the Anniston community. The Anniston Museum of Natural History, Anniston Community Theatre (now CAST), the American Cancer Society, Jacksonville State University Language Arts Olympiad, the Knox Concert Series, the League for Animal Welfare, the Anniston Community Education Foundation, The Animal Shelter and SAVE have all benefited from Millie’s passionate and untiring volunteer activities.

Since 2008, Millie has served on the Anniston Planning Commission. Millie’s willingness to research issues and make a considered, thoughtful plan for resolution of problems is evident from her in-depth responses to the questionnaire printed in The Anniston Star. She strongly believes that the Anniston community should be involved with its government as we work to strengthen our resources and to solve the city’s difficulties.

Anniston is fortunate that Millie Harris has offered to work full-time to move our city forward as the Ward 4 councilperson. Please join me in voting for her in the Oct. 9 runoff.
