Jay Jenkins just won re-election to the City Council in Anniston’s latest election and now it looks like he wants to use his power to strip away more of our rights with his distracted-while-driving ordinance.
Between the federal and state government already trying to control our lives, this is just what Anniston needs to run more people from its town. If the ordinance is passed, maybe more people will use Veterans Memorial Parkway and the Alabama 109 western bypass, and downtown will finally dry up.
If you drive a lot, not a day goes by that something doesn’t take your eye off the road for a second. Do you think Jenkins never talks on the phone, drinks a soda or maybe eats a bag of chips? Most people who drive are responsible drivers, and sure, some are not good drivers, but if you are human, you are going to make a mistake somewhere in life.
Seems to me Jenkins should be trying to attract new businesses with new jobs and trying to balance Anniston’s budget. At least let me enjoy my burger while I drive because I don’t have time to stop and while trying to survive and make a living in this rotten economy the political parties have put upon us. I’m fed up with politics.
