Colonel Bobby Lipscomb Jr. recently retired from the military in a ceremony which took place at Fort Eustis, Va., after 30 years of service in the U.S. Army. At the time of his retirement, he served as assistant Deputy Chief of Staff, G-8, HQ U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, Fort Eustis, Va. He served in Korea and in various stateside assignments and also had combat tours in Iraq and Kuwait. He is a 1977 graduate of Jacksonville High School. He received his commission in finance upon completion of the Reserve Officer’s Training Corps (ROTC) program at Jacksonville State University in 1982. He earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting from JSU and received his masters of business administration from City University in Bellevue, Wash.

Lipscomb’s military education and training includes the finance officer basic and advance courses, Combined Arms Services and Staff College, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, the U.S. Army War College and Airborne School.

Col. Lipscomb’s military awards include the Legion of Merit; Bronze Star; Iraqi Campaign medal; Meritorious Service medal (with four oak leaf clusters); Army Commendation medal (with four oak leaf clusters); Army Achievement medal (with three oak leaf clusters); Joint Meritorious Unit Achievement award; Army Superior Unit award; National Defense Service medal; Armed Forces Expeditionary medal; Global War on Terrorism medal; Kuwait Defense Service medal; Army Service ribbon and Overseas Service ribbon. He also earned the Meritorious Performance award in resource management from the Assistant Secretary of the Army for financial management and comptroller and the Distinguished Member of the Finance Regiment award from the Secretary of the Army.

Col. Lipscomb is married to the former Jacqueline Del Carmen McAnderson of Leavenworth, Kansas. They have two sons, Justin and Brian and reside in Hampton, Va. He is the son of Bobby and Emily Lipscomb of Jacksonville.
