Nine veteran teachers of Saks Elementary School were featured in the August back-to-school issue of ADDitude magazine, a national ADHD publication. The teachers were selected to write articles with suggestions for addressing a variety of academic challenges facing students with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) and other special needs in the classroom. Contributing teachers from Saks included Gina Whiting, Sarah Amberson, Brandi Barnes, Jill Brookes, Brooke McFry, Monique Carlisle-Grier, Krystal McDaniel, Jessica Cobb and Shasta McFry. Saks principal, Hector Baeza, has focused on improving instruction for all students especially those with special learning needs. Baeza coordinated four months training and consultation from a nationally recognized expert on ADHD, Chris Zeigler Dendy, regarding specific strategies to address ADHD and other special needs challenges in the classroom.
