Subway on Quintard robbed Monday

A Subway restaurant on Quintard Avenue was the target of an alleged armed robbery early Monday morning.

An employee at the restaurant told police officers she was taking a smoke break outside before 10 a.m. when a masked assailant with a handgun ordered her back inside, according to Anniston police Sgt. Josh Doggrell. The suspect made off with more than $300 in cash from the register before leaving on foot.

No customers were in the store at the start of the robbery, according to a police officer’s report, but a man walked in while the robbery was in progress and left at the same time as the suspect, Doggrell said. It is unclear if the man was an accomplice to the crime.

Investigators will be following up with the employee today to get a full description of the suspect, Doggrell said.
