A burglar made off with thousands of dollars worth of sound equipment from a local school sometime in the last three months, police said Friday.

Anniston police are investigating an alleged burglary at the Donoho School on Henry Road that likely occurred over the summer, Lt. Fred Forsythe said. More than $5,000 worth of audio equipment including a mixing board, amplifier and microphone were taken from a storage facility at the school, according to a police report.

School officials reported the burglary yesterday, but Forsythe said the equipment could have been taken anytime during the summer when school was not in session.

Attempts to reach school officials this morning were unsuccessful.
