Grace Episcopal Church presented ‘The Abundant Life’ garden project during its Vacation Bible School held in June. The children and leaders began each morning with an opening celebration that included worship, music, a story from the Episcopal Relief and Development field and a bible story. The children planted a community vegetable garden on the grounds of the church and explored the gardening essential themes and scripture related to water, soil, seeds, animals and harvest. They explored the themes with hands-on work that was fun and informative, all while working together to build a vegetable garden. The children heard from community leaders, master gardeners, botanists, experts from Calhoun County Extension Service and also a visit with goats, bunnies, ducks and chickens as part of the farm animal presentation and encounter.
