I want to voice my support for Cristy Humphries for mayor of Oxford. I do wish to express my appreciation for Leon Smith and for the things he has helped to accomplish; however, sometimes change is needed for growth.
I do enjoy the restaurants and shopping opportunities that have seen growth, but I would love to see more technical and industrial growth for the city. It is unfortunate that our children receive excellent educations in our city schools and go on to earn higher education degrees only to realize that there is no decent job opportunity for them in their own hometown. We need more than minimum-wage paying jobs for Oxford to see continued growth.
Cristy has demonstrated exceptional management abilities both as a professional educator and as a businesswoman. We need new visions and ideas to go forward and to become the town that Oxford has the capability of being. I believe Cristy Humphries is the person who will take us there.

Selase will help Anniston
Seyram Selase is highly respected by the community. He has given long hours to schools, libraries, different organizations and the community with volunteer work. Selase’s selflessness and strong work ethic are highly commendable and inspiring.
I have had the privilege of knowing Selase and his family, and in that experience he earned my respect and admiration. I was greatly impressed by his generosity and dedication. He spent valuable hours mentoring our youth to make a serious commitment to their future. I declare my support of Seyram Selase for the position of Anniston City Councilman for Ward 3.
Selase’s dedication will promote a healthy and positive environment in the city. I remember when Anniston was known as the Model City. In its glory days, Anniston was one of the best cities to live in. It’s time to make a change. Cast your vote for someone you can be proud to represent Anniston and bring it back to status of the great Model City, where education was first, business was strong and everyone worked together for the common good.
Seyram is trustworthy and, most of all, a God-fearing family man. Seyram’s dedication and hard work will promote a healthy and positive environment in the government and community. Seyram will help your city grow in the right direction.
Seyram’ s honest and practical approach sets him apart from the other candidates. He has shown great concern for the residents of the community, and his willingness to listen to people’s problems is commendable. I am confident Seyram will help make Anniston great again.

Get Anniston on track
Anniston is indeed at a crucial crossroad. If we hope to pull out of our downward spiral, it is time that all of Anniston work together for a common goal. It is critical that we elect a mayor who has the skills and background to make the Model City come alive again.
Vaughn Stewart understands the needs of our community. He has the education, experience and demeanor to work with the entire city to find practical solutions that can restore our proud heritage. I urge all of Anniston to give your support to Vaughn and help him get us back on track.

Salmon is right choice
I have been a resident of Anniston for about 25 years since I retired from the military. I have been fortunate to have been involved in Calhoun County and the city of Anniston through the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce and the Fort McClellan Development Commission.
I think the upcoming mayoral election is critical for the future of Anniston. Therefore, I feel George Salmon is the right person to be the next mayor.
I have worked closely with George on several projects in the city and at Fort McClellan. He has the vision, experience and leadership that we need in our next mayor. George will make decisions on what is best for Anniston and not for personal gain or recognition.

Harris has great ideas
Millie Harris has the desire and determination to make Anniston better, not just Ward 4. Her extensive experience in education sets her apart. Even though the City Council does not set school board policy, as a council member, she will fully support a school board with a vision for the future.
Millie envisions seeing career-tech magnet schools created; partnerships developed with area businesses to match vocational curriculum to the skills industries need; and to see all students graduate with job skills, even those who are college-bound. These highly trained students will provide a labor pool for high-tech industries for the research and technology park at McClellan.
Hopefully you have had the opportunity to speak with Millie as she has been out knocking on the doors of residents and officials. She has some great ideas and wants to hear yours. Millie can lend much-needed diversity to the council and is willing and able to be available full time.
No, she will not be at City Hall eight hours every day, but she will be out visiting other locales, seeking solutions for our schools, downtown revitalization and economic development. She will be out in the community meeting with Anniston’s residents, listening to their concerns and ideas. Vote for Millie Harris, Ward 4 council member.

Stewart is thinker, doer
Having known Vaughn Stewart for many years now, I have witnessed firsthand how Vaughn works and I like the way he conducts business. Vaughn knows how to get at the heart of matters of concern and has a logical approach for dealing with issues. He has numerous resources at his fingertips, progressive ideas, experience with municipal functions, and tremendous research under his belt. To get the ball rolling fast and with efficiency, Anniston’s next mayor must possess these characteristics.
A successful mayor must also know how to communicate clearly and be adept at getting people together on the same page. Vaughn Stewart is widely recognized as being a good communicator and one who can rally divergent groups of people. Vaughn listens, takes everything into consideration, strategically assesses all of the input, formulates benchmarks, and pulls everything together into a cohesive plan. This is what we need. We cannot afford to waste any more time at city hall.
Vaughn is the thinker and the doer that can make the difference people are longing for at this critical point in time. Please help this city thrive by selecting Vaughn Stewart your next mayor on Aug. 28.

Stewart can get job done
If the people of Anniston are looking for a person of strong character to lead the city forward, they will find it in Vaughn Stewart, the best candidate for mayor.
Vaughn has the highest of values, is a man who keeps his word, and is a diplomat in every sense of the word. He always follows through when he says he will do something, maintains calm even in tough situations, and is a bridge-builder. These attributes are just the tip of the iceberg when describing Vaughn Stewart.
Anyone who has watched Vaughn as a father and provider knows he takes care of his family. Vaughn will likewise take care of the people of Anniston. He adores his hometown and will give it the attention it deserves to become great once again. Vaughn is driven by passion and will not let anyone down. It is not wild passion but passion tempered by wise decision-making and disciplined planning. No one will be forgotten in the process.
Those who want to see the rebuilding of Anniston take off in capable hands will want to vote in support of Vaughn Stewart for mayor. He is the one who can get the job done. He is the one who can unite the community in the process.

Norton has the experience
Concerned residents studying candidates for mayor of Anniston will look for these qualities: Intelligence and a broad body of knowledge, experience in and understanding of the workings of city government and the manager-council form of government, practical ideas of action that can move Anniston forward and sustain the advancement, interest in urban renewal, interest in the welfare of all Anniston residents and fairness to them, and recognition of Anniston as an integral part of east Alabama.
An essential quality for mayor is the ability to reason together with all council members.
John Norton exercises all of these qualities. Decades of a successful law practice have widened his experience and honed his competence in helping people resolve conflicts, accommodate differing viewpoints and achieving concord in diverse attitudes.
I support John Norton for mayor of Anniston.

Stewart is the right person
When the people of Anniston go to the polls on Aug. 28, I hope they will select people with integrity to represent them. Regarding the mayor’s race, I know Vaughn Stewart to be a man of integrity.
I had personal dealings with Vaughn when I was being introduced to the real estate business and he made a huge impression on me. At the closing table, if there were overlooked stipulations that did not look right, Vaughn would draw my attention to them and not let them be pushed through. I was extremely impressed with the way he looked after me and everyone else at the closing table. He has won my complete trust and is someone whose opinions I seek and value.
Not only do I know Vaughn has the integrity this city needs in a mayor, but he also has other attributes that make him the best candidate. He is very strong, heady and business-minded. Vaughn is smart, has progressive ideas and knows how to work with other people to get things accomplished. He can handle the job of being mayor and can handle it in a dignified manner.
I have lived and worked in Anniston my entire life and welcome the possibility of Vaughn Stewart’s influence on this city. He has plans to get things moving and people actively involved with bringing positive change. Join me, please, in putting the right person, Vaughn Stewart, in the mayor’s seat.
