We can’t help but wonder: Why does Anniston Board of Education President Mary Harrington object to giving “agenda packets” to visitors who attend board meetings?

It is the law, for one thing.

Board member Bill Robison is right: Giving visitors a sneak peak of the board’s agenda is a step toward transparency. And in a purely logistical sense, it makes it easier for non-board members to know what the board’s talking about.

There’s no reason why the board shouldn’t follow Robison’s advice. Be transparent. Follow the law. Do the right thing.
