Anniston police arrested and charged a man Wednesday night with attacking a man at his home with a knife.

David Allen Lloyd, 43, of Anniston was charged with first-degree assault for allegedly cutting a man in the face, according to a police report.

Anniston police Lt. Fred Forsythe said officers responded to a disturbance call on the 1600 block of Bynum Leatherwood Road around 10:15 p.m. Upon arriving at the scene they discovered the victim, a 35-year-old male who lived at the address, with a laceration on his face caused by a knife.

The victim was taken to Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, according to a police report. Forsythe said he did not know the man’s current condition.

Lloyd was arrested at the scene, according to the police report. Forsythe said no motive for the alleged assault is known, but said Lloyd and the victim knew each other and that Lloyd was intoxicated at the time of his arrest.

“People will do stuff when they’re intoxicated that they won’t do when they’re sober,” Forsythe said.

Lloyd was being held at the Anniston City Jail this morning. No bond had been set at 11 a.m.
