A popular quote by Henry Adams reads, “A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.” It’s no secret Millie Harris is an excellent and accomplished teacher. I should know — she is my favorite teacher of all time.

I may not remember the specific curriculum she taught, but I know how she made me feel and think. Her genuine interest, commitment and support guided me to believe I could be anything I wanted to be. She listened and gave me confidence to pursue my dream — to be a teacher like her. Today, I am a National Board Certified Teacher pursuing a doctorate in education, as well as an adjunct professor for graduate students — a far cry from the extremely shy and nervous child I once was. I hope to impact my students the way she positively impacts everyone and everything.

Millie Harris can do for Anniston what she has done for me. With her dedication, innovative thinking and sincere love for her city, she will bring the momentum, collaboration and support Anniston needs to be The Model City. Support her. Let her affect Anniston — her influence will bring a bright future for your city.
