White Plains High School 10th-12th grade students may pick-up schedules, purchase lockers and parking permits Tuesday as follows:

• 10th grade, 8 a.m.

• 11th grade, 9:30 a.m.

Freshman orientation for parents/students is to be 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the WPHS lunchroom. The WPHS meet/greet for administrators/new faculty staff is to be 4-6 p.m. Thursday in the lobby.

To help things move faster for all parties, social workers are encouraged to make an appointment for book bag pickup, but it is not required. An AARP driver’s safety class is to be 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Aug. 11 at the Oxford Library. All school teachers and employees of school may take the class for $5. The UCP (United Cerebral Palsy) telethon is to be 10 p.m. today and 6 p.m. Sunday at the Anniston City Meeting Center. A silent auction and food from area restaurants are to be featured.

The Salvation Army food pantry is in desperate need of canned vegetables, meats and fruits to continue to feed those in need during the summer months. Cash donations would also be appreciated.
