The state’s top law enforcement official will address the newest crop of trained law enforcers in Anniston on Thursday.

Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange is scheduled to be the keynote speaker at the graduation ceremony for the Northeast Alabama Law Enforcement Academy. The Academy’s 156th Basic Session will graduate 60 students Thursday at the Anniston City Meeting Center at 11 a.m.

Greg Glaze, the academy’s director, said organizers typically try to vary the special guests they have for each of the three graduation ceremonies for basic training sessions every year. Former keynote speakers have included local police chiefs as well as federal level law enforcement officials, including members of the FBI and the U.S. Marshals.

The Northeast Alabama Law Enforcement Academy at the Jacksonville State University McClellan holds three 12-week long basic training sessions per year. The next session is scheduled to begin Sept. 10 and conclude on Nov. 29.
