Joseph Lee Grubbs, 21, was charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of criminal mischief and attempted burglary for allegedly breaking into Bearcat Express, Victory Fuels and Weaver Hardware and attempting to break into Weaver Grocery on Saturday morning, according to a press release from the Weaver Police Department. Steven Ray Tucker, 19, is also a suspect in the burglaries.
The main target of the burglaries appeared to be copper wiring from air conditioning units according to the press release, Nearly $3,000 in damages was done to Bearcat Express in the cutting of an air conditioning line. Copper tubing also was taken from Victory Fuels’ air conditioning units and additional items were taken from Weaver Hardware.
The release said the rear door at Weaver Grocery was forcibly kicked in, but the suspects did not enter the building.
Attempts to contact Weaver police Chief Wayne Bush were not immediately successful.
All four stores are on Main Street in Weaver.
Grubbs was being held at the Calhoun County Jail this afternoon. His bond was set at $63,000.
