Severe thunderstorm warning for Calhoun, surrounding counties

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Calhoun, Clay, Cleburne, Randolph, Talladega and several other central Alabama counties, effective until 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.

The storm is capable of producing winds in excess of 60 mph and has already caused damage in Shelby County, a weather service warning stated.

"This is an extremely dangerous situation," the weather service warning stated.

Areas expected to be affected by the storm include Talladega, Lineville, Roanoke and some communities along Interstate 20.
