Alexandria High School registration for 2012-13 school year, for grades 7-12, is to be 8 a.m.-2 p.m. July 17 as follows:

• 12th grade, 8-9 a.m.

• 11th grade, 9-10 a.m.

• 10th grade, 10-11 a.m.

• 9th grade, 11 a.m.-noon

• 8th grade, noon-1 p.m.

• 7th grade, 1-2 p.m.

Students may pick up schedules and request changes at this time. Lockers may be rented for $15 and parking decals may be purchased for $20. To purchase a parking decal, students must have an Alabama driver’s license, provide proof of insurance, make and model of vehicle, and tag receipt of vehicle that will be driven to school.

The sixth grade is to meet 9-11 a.m. July 17. Students may purchase lockers for $15, pay fees, and bring supplies on this day.

New student registration for grades 6-12 is to be 8 a.m.-noon July 18. New students registering must have: birth certificate, Social Security card, Alabama immunization record (blue form), proof of custody (if applicable), proof of residence (must provide power bill and one other utility), name/address of previous school, past report card (transfer grades), discipline records from previous school. The Alabama Department of Revenue’s free “New Business” workshop is to be 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. July 17 at the Oxford High School media center, Hale Street, next to the Oxford High School baseball field. The free workshop is to cover a variety of state tax information topics, including employer withholding taxes, state and local sales taxes, property taxes, business licensing requirements, and changes in Alabama’s child labor law. Oxford Parks and Recreation Department cheerleader registration is to be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Friendship Community Center. Registration is only for girls, age 6-12, who attend Oxford city schools. An introductory basket-weaving class, offered by the Dixie Weavers Basketry Guild, is to be Aug. 11 at Cane Creek Community Gardens Center at McClellan. The payment deadline is Aug. 4. A “Back to Nature: Rain barrels and cisterns for the landscape” rain barrel workshop is to be 10 a.m.-noon July 19 at Anniston Museum of Natural History. The workshop, sponsored by Legacy, Inc., is to be presented by Hayes Jackson. The event will include a power point talk, a hands-on demonstration of a simple rainwater harvesting/recycling system that can be done in your backyard.
