Re “Don’t need Obama’s views” (Speak Out, June 26):

Letter writer Charles Smith said, “People need to wake up and listen to Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity before President Barack Obama destroys this country.”

Does the writer not know Limbaugh and Hannity are talk-show hosts, not newscasters? They are paid to tell listeners with shared viewpoints exactly what they want to hear. This does not equate to useful information for me, one of those sleeping people the letter refers to.

The letter goes on to point a finger at the president, suggesting he is telling the writer what he “can and can’t eat” and is the “worst ever,” while stating the president’s re-election will result in “no more jobs.” None of that can be proven factually accurate.

As long as people continue to believe political spin and outright lies regarding this nation, our laws and our leaders, how will we ever get past the reactionary voting that results?
