The Calhoun County Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on June 16 was the largest ever, with more than 500 people in attendance. Each inductee received a standing ovation this year after being introduced. I thought it was the best ever, maybe because Coach John Adcock, our Mr. Wellborn, was inducted.

If you would like to see who has been inducted over the years, there is a display in the Ken Joiner Calhoun County Administration Building, with plaques for each of the eight classes, beginning with the Class of 2008. There also is a website, www.ccshof.com.

Special thanks go to my fellow Calhoun County Commissioner, J.D. Hess, and Coach Bill Jones for their vision and hard work in creating this event and making it happen. Special thanks also to Al Muskewitz and The Anniston Star for their great coverage and insight concerning those being honored.

What a class act for Calhoun County!
