MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Commercial vehicles on Alabama's highways will be getting extra attention from law enforcement from Tuesday through Thursday.

The state Department of Public Safety's Motor Carrier Safety Unit is taking part in a three day-program called RoadCheck 2012. It's a national campaign that also involves local police and federal authorities. The program also covers Canada and Mexico.

Public Safety officials say the RoadCheck 2012 locations in Alabama are the Heflin Weigh Station on the westbound side of Interstate 20 and the north and southbound rest areas along Interstate 85 in Macon County. The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance says drivers' records are checked along with the trucks' brakes, tires, lights, safety components, and load securement.
