Our state government at work

I recently ran across the following news item from Montgomery: “Gourmet beer that aficionados say is often only distributed in larger bottles can now be sold in the state of Alabama. Gov. Robert Bentley has signed a bill on Wednesday to almost double the size of bottles beer can be sold in. Previously beer could only be sold in containers up to 16 ounces. Beer can now be sold in bottles up to nearly 26 ounces under the new law.”

So, this is what is important to our lawmakers and governor instead of fixing the budget problems, which include funding for Medicare, prisons and a court system that is overloaded and under-funded.

At least we can all get properly drunk now and forget our real problems. I guess special-interest money is more important.
