How’s this for an oddity: Huntsville is following the lead of Piedmont.

Yes, little-’ol Piedmont is an Alabama trendsetter when it comes to integrating computers into education. It’s also one of the reasons why Calhoun County’s northernmost town is getting so many positive vibes these days.

This week, Huntsville said all of its students in grades 4 through 12 will have laptops this fall. The move to digital textbooks is no longer a long-range wish.

Fast approaching is the day when paper textbooks are obsolete. Call it the Piedmont way.
