This week (May 13-19) is National Police Week. It is a time for law enforcement to bring attention to the price paid to keep our communities safe each year.

The goal of the National Law Enforcement Memorial Fund is to have a year where less than 100 officers are killed in the line of duty. That goal has gone unmet in recent years.

While officers remember the fallen during this week out of respect, it is also therapy for them when the public shows their support. A simple thanks for what you do is sufficient and goes a long way with the officer’s morale.

This past year the community was hit hard with the loss of Anniston Officer Justin Sollohub, making the sixth-annual Calhoun County Law Enforcement Memorial even more special to the officers serving this community.

Please come out and support all law enforcement at Centennial Park at17th Street and Quintard Avenue this Friday at 6 p.m.

Chief Deputy
Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department
