A recent story in The Star said that the proposed state education budget could cut more than 1,700 jobs in Alabama.

Alabama needs money to improve its schools and roads. I’ve got a great idea: Let’s have another vote on a state lottery.

Why are we sending millions of our dollars to Georgia, Tennessee and Florida? The Alabama lottery would create thousands of jobs and much-needed revenue.

We could use these funds to improve our schools, increase teachers’ pay, improve our roads and hire employees instead of laying them off.
