The second green-white-check attempt followed an eight-car crash that saw Eric McClure slam hard and head-on into the inside wall.
Emergency personnel cut the roof off of McClure’s No. 14 car, strapped him to an immobilizing board and airlifted him to UAB Medical Center.
NASCAR officials reported that McClure talked to medical personnel. There was no further update on his condition as of 5:30 p.m.
Other drivers, including Kevin Harvick, Tayler Malsam and Michael Annett, were evaluated in the infield care center and released.
