Seven Ward 4 residents have applied for the opportunity to serve the remainder of former Anniston City Councilman David Dawson’s term.

Dawson resigned his seat on April 24 saying he could no longer adequately represent his constituents. That left the remaining four councilmen responsible for picking a replacement to serve through the end of October.

The city took applications for the seat until Wednesday at 5 p.m. Chris Abernathy, Marcus Dunn, Brian Harmon, Millie Harris, Bill Robison, Joel Russell and Richard Thompson applied for the chance to finish Dawson’s term.

The council will meet Monday to interview the candidates and plan to make their choice at the council meeting on Tuesday.
