Two Anniston men were hospitalized over the weekend after allegedly engaging in a fight possibly involving a knife, according to police.

Anniston police arrived at a residence on the 100 block of East 54th Street early Saturday night after receiving a call about a “cutting,” according to Lt. Fred Forsythe.

“During the investigation we found two separate victims that had been assaulted,” Forsythe said. “Both had received injuries consistent with being cut by some type of object.”

Forsythe said one of the victims had a laceration on his arm and injuries to the head, and the other victim suffered a cut to the abdomen. Both men were taken to Regional Medical Center.

Police could not determine,at the scene, what object caused the injuries.

It was unclear what started the altercation, Forsythe said, but said the two men knew each other. Police will conduct follow-up interviews with the men sometime this week to determine if they will press charges, Forsythe said.
