Re “Legacy in black and white: The life and world of Ken Elkins, 1935-2012” (Special section, April 15):

Kudos for The Star’s wonderful tribute to the quietly amazing Ken Elkins.

While his photographs speak to his eye for a fundamental “okayness” of a simpler life, nothing is said about his paintings, one of which we are proud possessors. It depicts a field of multi-colored tulips against a bright, golden sun. From somewhere between folk art and primitive, to us this treasure displays a simple, whimsical warmth, maybe optimism, which greets us each morning from our kitchen wall.

Bon voyage, Ken, on your continuing journey.
