• Tuesday: North Alabama Rare Plant Society hosts a free lecture on “The Cream of the Crops: Top Picks for 2012,” with Scott McMahan of McMahan’s Nursery in Georgia. There will be a silent auction at 11 a.m., followed by the lecture and free lunch at noon. Plants from the nursery will be available for sale after the lecture. • Wednesday: “Lunch and Learn,” a series of free gardening programs sponsored by Calhoun County Master Gardeners and the Calhoun County Commission. • May 5: Plant sale at Longleaf Botanical Gardens at the Anniston Museum of Natural History. Sponsored by 4-H Tree Amigos Master Gardeners and Anniston Museum Volunteers. 8 a.m. until all plants are sold.
