TUSCALOOSA (AP) — Crews are searching for a University of Alabama student who fell into the Black Warrior River during a sorority party aboard a riverboat.

Authorities in Tuscaloosa say Delta Sigma Theta sorority was holding its annual formal party aboard the Bama Belle when a young man fell overboard around 10:50 p.m. Thursday.

Rescuers searched into the early morning hours Friday, and police say the search resumed at daybreak. Police helicopters are being used, along with rescue boats.

Police Sgt. Brent Blankley says it's still unclear exactly what happened on the boat.
