Douglas and Katie McManus Medders were married March 15, 1947, at the Rev. Claxton’s home on Pine Street in Anniston. Witnesses were Pauline Self, cousin of the bride; and Harold Brown, best friend of the groom. The couple honeymooned at the General Forest Hotel in Rome, Ga.

Douglas worked for Lee Brass for 43 years, and Katie was owner and stylist of KaPam Beauty Shop for 28 years. They have lived their married life in the Anniston area.

Their children include the late Douglas Wayne Medders; Danny and Judy Medders of Anniston and Pamela and Warren Talley of Oxford.

Their grandchildren include Lori and Eric Feemster of Ohatchee; Leslie and Byron Marshall of Piedmont; Daniel and Michelle Perry of Florida; Katie and Clay Christeson of Alexandria; Davis and Bethany Perry of Shelby County; Tara and Jason Austin of DeArmanville; Patrick and Cassie Talley of Anniston and Graham Talley of Oxford.

Their great-grandchildren include Saydie Marshall, Madison Feemster, Haley Feemster, Carter Christeson, Hannah Perry, Dexter Perry, Glori Talley, Mackensie Austin, Montgomery Austin and Miles Austin.

The couple celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with a renewal ceremony March 17, 2012, at Weaver Church of Christ with Pastor Clyde Ray. The event, hosted by their children, was attended by many family and friends.
