Registered Alabama voters will have the opportunity Tuesday to participate in either the Democratic or Republican primary. The League of Women Voters of Alabama urges those parties’ voters to prepare for the upcoming primary by visiting VOTE411.org, the nation’s premiere online election resource designed to help you find your polling place, check voting hours, and to read tips about what kinds of identification to bring to the polls. (Note: A photo ID is not required until 2014, but approved ID must be presented. See VOTE411.org for more details.)
VOTE411.org also offers a voters’ guide for candidates for the chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court and the associate justices. Despite the importance of these races, many voters are unfamiliar with the candidates and their positions. This voters’ guide allows voters to compare the candidates’ verbatim responses to questions regarding key issues in an unbiased format, so they can make a more informed choice.
Remember, when you don’t cast your vote, you are giving more power to the votes of those who do. See you at the polls in 2012.
