Re “Epitaph for a building” (Phillip Tutor column, Feb. 17):

Star Commentary Editor Phillip Tutor’s column triggered a sinking feeling. The possible loss of the Anniston City Land Co. building at Zinn Park threatens the values of our city.

As an Anniston native son and a retired history teacher, it saddens me to see Anniston facing the prospect of losing its very fabric. Let’s only hope the City Council can find some way to save this “Gateway to Anniston” treasure, that the building can, in fact, be saved.

Our city truly needs more residents like Cleo and Carla Thomas (Noble Park restoration). Preservation is as vital as progress.
